Not only art, but also parks and nature: from the Lipu Oasis to the Groane Park, Cesano Maderno is a perfect destination for those who love walking outdoors.

Itinerary stages

1 Lipu Oasis

The Oasis was established in 1997 through a partnership between LIPU (Italian League for Bird Protection), the Municipality of Cesano Maderno, and the Groane Park Consortium, covering an area of approximately 100 hectares. It is located right next to a heavily urbanized and industrialized area, making its environmental value particularly significant. Given its unique location within Groane Park, the area includes pockets of valuable residual nature (such as oak and birch woods) as well as degraded zones, which LIPU has been working to restore since the Oasis was established.

2 Groane Park

Groane Park is a protected regional area covering over 3,800 hectares in the upper Lombard plain, within the Milan metropolitan area. It was established in 1976 through the cooperation of sixteen local authorities to curb uncontrolled urban development. Managed by a consortium comprising municipalities and the Province of Milan, the park is home to a rich variety of plants and animals, features elements of geological interest, and contains numerous sites of significant historical, artistic, and industrial archaeological value. Consistent with the park’s unique character as an important natural area situated within a densely populated and partially rural zone, the management plan aims to balance environmental protection with agriculture, tourism, and, crucially, the local community.
