Itinerary stages

1 The Educational Museum of Wood

Housed in the Palace’s old cellars, suitably restored, is one of the most important collections of woodworking machinery and tools.

The space, reminiscent of the region’s traditional artisan workshops, is also suitable for hosting temporary exhibitions. For more information on the museum and visits: www.museodellegno.it

2 The Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angels and Saint Anthony of Padua

The “Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angels” was built at the same time as the Palace and blessed in October 1660. The church served a dual purpose: it was a place of worship open to the villagers and also a private chapel for the Arese family. For this reason, it features both a public entrance with a stone portal and a private access via a gallery connected directly to the state rooms on the Palace’s main floor.

In the presbytery stands a pink and black marble altar featuring an angel in its pediment, which once housed the altarpiece by Montalto depicting the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child, the Guardian Angel, and Saint Anthony of Padua (a copy is on display today).

The chapel is only open to the public during exhibitions or for special tours as part of the “Ville Aperte” program. If you have the chance to visit, use your smartphone to access additional content via the QR codes.

3 The Icehouse

The ice house is a unique underground structure made up of two parts: an upper section, where ice was packed during the winter, and a lower area consisting of a circular path lined with small cavities (“grottini”) used for storing barrels of the finest wine.

Recently renovated, the space is now privately owned, but it opens to the public for special tours as part of the “Ville Aperte” (Open Villas) event series.

If you’re lucky enough to visit, use your smartphone to access related extra content via the usual QR code system.
