On May 29, 2025, Cesano Maderno will host the 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia, one of the most important national and international sporting events. Stage number 18 will be a rest stage that, starting from Morbegno and crossing the Brianza area of Lecco and Monza, will arrive in the city for a fast 12.5-kilometer circuit to be covered twice.
The citizens, and not only, are preparing to welcome the Giro’s pink caravan: a unique opportunity that the Municipality is preparing in the best possible way to fully exploit the relevance of this event, which will put Cesano Maderno at the center of an international showcase. This is, in fact, the first time that the city has hosted the arrival stage of the event, after the two starts in 1979 and 2008.
While waiting for the big event, a program of events entitled “#Occhioalgiro” has been organized, which starts in March, and then gets into full swing in May, when the whole city will dress in pink: the balconies and windows of commercial and artisan activities will be filled with banners and flags, and Palazzo Arese Borromeo will be illuminated in pink.
Among the initiatives planned, according to a constantly updated calendar:
- the exhibition “Bicycle Thieves. Photographs of Neorealism in Renaissance Italy”;
- presentation of the book “The Illustrated Giro d’Italia” by Marcarini and Cervi on May 7 at Palazzo Arese Borromeo in the Aurora Room;
- photographic exhibition “Two Wheels in Pink” by Fabrizio Delmati from May 23 to June 8 at the Disarò Auditorium;
- the Pink Night in the historic center on May 23;
- he talk “Stories of two-wheeled Olympians. Lella Menuzzo and Marco Aurelio Fontana” at Palazzo Arese Borromeo in the Aurora Room on May 25.
